Welcome to Friends of WOTR, where our core mission is to advance and finance the impactful programmes of our partner organisation- Watershed Organization Trust (WOTR) headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Objective

Our primary objective is to enlighten partners about innovative development programmes centered on water conservation and climate change adaptation in India, promoting the prudent utilization of land, water, vegetation, animals and human resources.

What we do

We are a charitable are a 501 (c)(3) organization incorporated in the State of Illinois. Our founders are American professionals and concerned citizens who share a passion for development programs that focus on regenerating and conserving natural resources and the environment in dry, drought-prone, and poverty-stricken parts of developed and developing countries.

We specific focus is to raise funds to support the work of the Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR), our esteemed partner organization in India. This work involves:

  • Assisting Village Governance that includes Village Panchayats (local councils), Governmental and NGO bodies to efficiently manage their natural resources leading to sustainable economic development

  • Enhancing water security, fostering job creation, sustaining existing livelihoods, empowering women, establishing and managing microfinance funds

  • Implementing strategies for climate change mitigation, adaptation, emissions reduction, greenhouse gas trading offsets and small-scale clean energy technologies

WOTR is at the forefront of this important work and takes a three-pronged approach in transforming rural communities.

WOTR extends its impact globally by offering training to village leaders and other stakeholders from diverse countries at its training facility in Darewadi, Maharashtra.

Friends Of WOTR collaborates with faculty and students at the School of Public Service, DePaul University, Chicago to periodically monitor and assess the programs we fund. Our assessments are periodic, systematic and involve site visits to ensure the efficacy of our initiatives.
